The introduction of Abby's character inThe Last of Us Part 2isdefinitely one that you'll remember. Her decision to kill Joel created huge controversy thatimpactedpeople's opinionon the game. Using Abby's new involvement to kill off one of the main characters was a big move by the Naughty Dog developers.

Abby's character provided manymemorablemoments to the series and, despite the initial controversy, her involvementwas a hugecontribution to the game's major success. Abbyis one of the main characters in this second instalment to the franchise and holds her fair share of memorable moments. As soon as the moment came that Abby killed Joel, we knew that her characterheld importance.
10 "I Don't Care About Last Night." - "Well, I Do."
Abby and Owen's somewhat difficult relationship is evident throughout the game. When we're first introduced to Abby, we're also introduced to Owenas we see the two ofthem inconversation. The closeness of their relationship is first seen here and developed through further scenes and flashbacks.
Despite being withMel, who's pregnant with his child, Owenis disloyalby sleeping with Abby aftera long trek to find him. Theirfeelings for each other are obvious, especially due to the longevity of their friendship. So, when Mel turns up the day after Abby and Owen sleep together, Abby unsuccessfully actsunbothered. This is one of their last secluded conversations before Owen iskilled by Ellie.
9 "You Don't Think Joel Deserved What He Got?"
There's obvious tension between Mel and Abby since they're in love with the same person. After Mel has been visibly quiet with Abby, the assumption was of the underlying issues surrounding Owen. When Abby confronts Mel about why she's been avoiding her, she proceeds to say that she was shaken by what happened in Jackson (killing Joel.)
Instantly in defence, Abby questions whether Mel doesn't think that Joel got what he deserves. In response, Mel says that Joel deserved worse for murdering Abby's father but wishes that she didn't take part. We know that in a later scene, Ellie kills Mel for her involvement in Joel's death.
8 "I Haven't Always Done The Right Thing-" "You're A Piece Of sh*t, Abby. Always Have Been."
Mel has obvious reasoning as to why she dislikes Abby, and that's due to her relationship with Owen. Since Mel is pregnant with Owen's child, she has an obvious dislike for her friend. Visiting Owen the day after he coincidentally is disloyal by sleeping with Abby, Mel confronts Abby privately to call her out.
Even though we don't hear Mel say that she knows about the intimate events between Owen and Abby, she is aware that something is going on. Melassumes that Abby still has major feelingsfor Owen and possibly assumes that it's only one-sided, but we'll never know
7 "Those Were Your F***ing People." - "You're My People."
The first introduction to Scars is in the second edition of The Last Of Us franchise. They're a newly introduced character aspect of the gaming series. We see Scars do some pretty gruesome things. They're noticeable for the visible scars on their face and being pretty bad people.
If one thing is for certain, Scars are not supposed to be associated with. But two Scars, Lev and Yara, save Abby from death,so Abby feels as if she has a loyalty to help them. Abby isn't afraid to put her own life before theirs and even before her own "people." Once Yara is killed, she isn't afraid to hurt the people that she once considered family.
6 "I'm Not Going To Fight You." - "Yes, You Will."
When Ellie finally seeks down Abby for the last time, she's extremely weak andhad been left to die. In the last conversation that Abby and Ellie had, Abby said, "Don't ever let me see you again." After finally being reunited, we expected that the scene would be one of hatred.

Not wanting to fight, Ellie threatens Abby to take part as she puts a sharp knife to Lev's neck. Despite being as weak as Abby, it doesn't stop Ellie from wanting to fight. We know that Ellie's mind is overwhelmed with the thought of killing Abby. Regardless, she lets her go free.
5 "She's Pregnant." - "Good."
This scene is particularlyhard to watch for obvious reasons. After Abby and Ellie are battling it out in the theatre, Dina saves Ellie from getting pummelled by Abby's fist. Abby is quick to react and puts a knife to her throat. Ellie begs her to stop, claiming that Dina's pregnant.
We know from previous scenes that Ellie killed Mel who was also pregnant. Abby thought maliciously about her lack of caretowardsDina's pregnancysince Ellie had already killed her pregnant friend. Despite how she might feel, Abby spared her life after the realisation of what she was doing.
4 "If It Was Me...I'd Want You To Do The Surgery."
This is thelast conversation that Abby has with her dad. Convincing him to do the surgery, he agrees to operate on Ellie despite the threat of it killing her, to save mankind. We know already from the first instalment of The Last Of Us that this surgery didn't go ahead. Joel was not one to hold back on saving Ellie's life.
In The Last Of Us 2, we come to realise that the surgeon who intended to do the surgery was in fact Abby's dad, a character that we're introduced to fairly early on in the game. Abby has a vengeance against Joel and seeks to kill him after he murdered her dad.
3 "You Killed My Friends. We Let You Live And You Wasted It!"
Despite what your opinions of Abby might be, she's no stranger to loss. The vengeance that Ellie has against Abby after she killed Joel meant that she would go atanythingto find her whereabouts. That also includes killing anyone in her path. At the scene of Joel's death, Abby's friends had the opportunity to kill Ellie but spared her life.

Despite havingsaved her life, Ellie and Tommy kill all of Abby's friends. If you think about it, besides Lev, Abbyreally doesn't have anyone around her anymore. Everyonethat she's ever cared for has died at the hands of Ellie or Tommy. Considering that she just wanted to avenge her dead father, that's pretty upsetting.
2 "He Isn't A Part Of This." - "You Made Him A Part Of This."
Lev and Abby's friendship is definitely unexpected.When Lev first met Abby, he had all intentions to leave her to die.It was Yara that convinced Lev to save Abby. Since this moment, they have grown unimaginably close considering the circ*mstances.
In this boss battle between Abby and Ellie, we see both really weak characters fighting it out for what is the final time. Abby originally didn't want to get involved in this fight until Ellie threatened Abby by putting a knife to Lev's neck,despite his innocence.
1 "You Don't Get To Rush This."
"Looks like you've heard of us or something." - Joel. "That's 'cause they have." - Abby.
It's fair to say that every player hated Abby at this moment. This particular scene where Abby killed Joel created a lot of controversy around the game and based people's opinions around whether they considered the game a success or not. It was only speculation at this point of why possibly Abby wanted to murder Joel.
Since Joelkilled Abby's dad, Abby was particular about her words as we know now that she had waited a long time for this moment. In flashback scenes after this moment, we see that Abby has been hunting Joel for a while to seek revenge for the death of her father.
