Do you need a box spring with a Sealy posturepedic carver mattress? ›

While we recommend supporting your Sealy® mattress with a solid, flat surface (like a foundation or power base), we do not recommend using a box spring with your Sealy® Hybrid or Foam Mattress. Box springs are designed to "give" in supporting a traditional mattress, while our mattresses need a solid base.

The Sealy Posturepedic Carver mattress is a coil mattress offered in a 11″ (firm version) and 13.5″ (plush version) thickness. It contains an innerspring support unit and a poly foam comfort layer above the coils. This mattress has extremely minimal sinkage and very high levels of bounce.

The Sealy Posturepedic Hybrid Mattress is available in two firmness levels that rank as soft (3) and firm (7), respectively, on our 10-point firmness scale.

The Posturepedic Hybrid does keep the spine well supported. There is minimal sinkage and more of a floating feeling with the mattress. This makes the mattress better suited to the needs of stomach and back sleepers. However, the firm feel and minimal sinkage make a poor choice for side sleepers.

Sealy mattresses are designed intentionally to support your body and relieve pressure in certain areas and are commonly best for side sleepers.

If you choose not to purchase our foundation or adjustable base, you must position the mattress on a completely flat, solid surface with adequate center support. Please note that using the mattress without a Sealy® foundation or similar firm, solid-surface, non-spring base may void the warranty.
